The Integrating sphere measures several light belt properties. Some of the most important statistics supplied by the Integrating sphere would be:

Total luminous flux: This metric expresses the total quantity of light emitted by the light belt in lumens. This value indicates the total brightness of the light belt.Distribution of light intensity: The Integrating sphere can measure the distribution of luminous intensity at various angles. This information reveals how light is dispersed in space and whether there are any anomalies or hotspots.

Chromaticity coordinates: It measures the color qualities of the light strip, which are represented on the CIE chromaticity diagram as chromaticity coordinates. This information includes the color temperature, color rendering index (CRI), and spectral properties of the light.

Color temperature: It measures the perceived color of light in Kelvin (K). This parameter describes the warmth or coolness of the light belt’s emitted light.

Color rendering index (CRI): This metric assesses how well the light belt renders the colors of objects when compared to a reference light source. The CRI is expressed as a number between 0 and 100, with higher numbers indicating better color rendering.

The Integrating sphere may also measure the power utilized by the light belt, which is commonly given in watts. This parameter is critical for evaluating the light belt’s energy efficiency and running expenses.

Follow these steps to test an LED strip light with an integrating sphere:

Setup: Place the integrating sphere in a controlled setting with little to no outside light disturbance. Make sure the sphere is clean and clear of dust or debris that could interfere with the measurements.

Calibration: Use a known reference light source that has been approved by a reputable calibration laboratory to calibrate the integrating sphere. This process enables precise measurements and the elimination of any systematic mistakes.

Connect the LED strip light to a power source and check that it is running under typical operating circumstances, including the desired voltage and current.

Position the LED strip light inside the integrating sphere, ensuring that it is properly dispersed throughout the opening. Avoid any shadows or obstructions that could interfere with the measurements.

Measurement: Use the integrating sphere’s measurement mechanism to collect data. Total light flux, luminous intensity distribution, chromaticity coordinates, color temperature, color rendering index, and power consumption are examples of measures.

Repeat and average: To ensure accuracy and reliability, take repeated measurements at different positions on the integrating sphere. To acquire representative data, take the average of these measures.
