Color rendering is a measure of how accurate colors appear under the light source. Under a low CRI LED strip, colors might appear distorted, washed out, or indistinguishable. High CRI LED products offer light that allows objects to appear the way they would under an ideal light source such as a halogen lamp, or natural daylight. Also look for a light source’s R9 value, which provides further information about how red colors are rendered.

IP68 is the internationally recognized standard for dust and water Protection (IP=Ingress Protection). Among them, "6" represents complete dust protection (dust cannot enter the interior of the equipment and does not affect normal operation), and "8" represents the highest level of water protection (it can be immersed in water for a long time under the specified pressure without the risk of water ingress). Based on this high protection feature, IP68 light strips have the following core advantages compared with ordinary light strips (such as IP20, IP44), and are particularly suitable for use in complex or harsh environments:
Ultimate dust and water resistance, suitable for harsh environments.This is the most core advantage of IP68 light strips and also the key difference from light strips of medium and low protection grades.
●Completely dust-proof: The interior of the light strip is tightly sealed, preventing dust, sand particles, lint and other tiny particles from entering the lamp beads or driving circuits, thus avoiding brightness attenuation, short circuits or component aging caused by dust accumulation (especially suitable for dusty scenarios such as factory workshops, basements, deserts/sand-dust areas, etc.).
●Deep water resistance It can be immersed in water up to 1.5 meters deep for a long time (some high-specification products can be even deeper), and can resist high-pressure water flow flushing (such as heavy rain, spray, swimming pool/fish tank water environment), without short circuit, leakage or damage to the LED beads - ordinary IP67 light strips can only be "immersed for a short time" IP68 can meet the requirements of long-term underwater or high-humidity scenarios (such as underwater landscapes, wet areas in bathrooms, and outdoor rain decorations).
Higher safety and reduced electrical risks.As an electrified lighting device, the dust and water resistance of the light strip are directly related to the safety of use.
●Anti-leakage/short circuit: In damp or dusty environments, ordinary light strips are prone to short circuits due to water ingress or dust accumulation, and may even cause electric shock or fire hazards. The IP68 sealing structure completely isolates water and dust from coming into contact with the circuit, significantly reducing the risk of electrical accidents. It is particularly suitable for "human-environment contact" scenarios such as homes (bathrooms, balconies) and commercial places (swimming pools, water features).
●Children/pet-friendly: If used for home floor and wall decoration (such as skirting boards, stair treads), even if children or pets accidentally touch or spill water on the light strips, there is no need to worry about electric leakage. Its safety is significantly better than that of unprotected or low-protection light strips.
Stable performance and longer service life.Environmental factors (dust, moisture, corrosion) are the main reasons for the shortened lifespan of light strips. IP68 light strips solve this pain point through sealed protection:
●More comprehensive component protection: The core components of the light strip (LED beads, PCB circuit boards, driver chips) are wrapped with highly sealed materials (such as epoxy resin potting, silicone tubing) to prevent "dead lights" of the beads, oxidation and rusting of the circuit board, or driver failures caused by water vapor erosion.
●Long-term stable performance: In fluctuating environments such as high and low temperatures, humidity, and dust, the brightness and color temperature (such as warm white and cold white) of IP68 light strips will not show significant decline. Their service life is usually 50,000 to 80,000 hours (while ordinary IP20 light strips may only last 10,000 to 20,000 hours in harsh environments), reducing the cost and trouble of frequent replacement.
Although IP68 light strips have significant advantages, it should be noted that:
1-When installing, seal the interfaces: The cutting interfaces of the light strips and the power connectors should be treated with special waterproof connectors or sealant to prevent the interfaces from becoming "protective loopholes".
2-Choose compliant products: Some inferior "pseudo IP68" light strips only have waterproof sleeves on the surface and no potting treatment inside, resulting in poor actual protective effect. It is necessary to choose regular products with test reports.
3-Avoid violent pulling: Although it has strong protective properties, excessive pulling may damage the sealing structure and affect the protective effect.
The core value of IP68 light strips lies in that, on the basis of "high dust-proof and high water-proof", they also take into account safety, durability and scene adaptability. They are especially suitable for lighting or decoration needs that need to be exposed to harsh environments for a long time (outdoors, underwater, dusty, high humidity), and are an irreplaceable "high-reliability choice" for ordinary light strips.More importantly,this type is IP68 and IK10 strip,it can not only be used underwater but also is impact-resistant.
